Tune up – Day 13

My Part – God’s Part

Polarities are difficult issues. So many denominations, so much confusion! Ambiguity is very troubling for most of us. I am supposed to do it all, even work to save myself—NOT! Or God does it all, just pray and He will take care of it. He will provide or He will take my thoughts captive—NOT!

I do it all —– Cooperating with God for a Change® —– God does it all

Now there are things that are impossible for me to do. I can’t save myself and I can’t keep myself saved. It is finished; I am saved because of Jesus’ sacrifice. The law of the Spirit of life has set me free!

There are things God will not do.

  • Don’t you remember the rule we had when we lived with you? “If you don’t work, you don’t eat.”
2 Thessalonians 3:10 MSG
  • You master your emotions. Genesis 4:7
  • You guard your innermost thoughts. Proverbs 4:23
  • You destroy strongholds; you make every effort to take thoughts captive. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
  • You gird your mind for action. 1 Peter 1:13

There are many other verses. The key is co-operating with God in order to transform what is in your brain. It is a balanced reality between God does it all and we do it all.

We are to rely upon and trust God to give us the power to do the part that is ours. Our job is one of setting our mind for action. Jesus said He could do nothing on His own initiative (John 5:19, 30). The fact is we cannot do anything without Him, even the part that is ours. However, He expects our commitment and that we will put forth the effort in cooperating with Him for a change (2 Peter 1:5-10).

What do you think your part of the war is? What part is God’s? Are you doing your part? Train your brain to do the truth!

Training Your Brain Exercise – Attack

Today, take the time to see and hear. Practice attacking, at least 10 times today, by destroying a pornographic memory. This could be a TV commercial or an ad that comes through the mail that has established itself in your brain.

Remember, go into the Theater of Life in Christ and sit with Jesus. Put the pornographic image on the screen of your mind; either turn it to glass and smash it, or turn it to paper and light it on fire. When you smash the picture or light it on fire say, with an aggressive, determined, internal auditory, “I will not allow this garbage in my brain. This is my brain, and in Jesus’ name, I will not allow this ANY MORE.” Sweep the glass/ashes up and dump them. Praise God!
