Tune up – Day 17

Walk by the Spirit

Galatians 5:16 NASB – “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.”

The word “walk” is from the Greek word peripateo, which means literally “to walk about.” When you add the word “by” to the word “walk,” it refers to the act of conducting one’s self, or ordering one’s manner of life in order to form a new habit of behavior. Practice and practice some more doing the truth until it becomes you!
The Holy Spirit will suppress the activities of the flesh as we trust and cooperate with Him to do so. This is what walking by the Spirit means. It means to co-operate with Him in His work of sanctification (Galatians 5:16-21).

The believer has the responsibility of refusing to obey the desires of the flesh by conducting himself in the power of the Holy Spirit. The choice lies with you, as to whether you are going to yield to the Holy Spirit or obey the evil nature. The Spirit is always there to give you victory over the desires of the flesh. However, you must say a point-blank “NO” to sin, and at the same time, trust and have faith that the Spirit will give you victory.

Acts 2:25 NASB – “For David says of Him, “I saw the Lord always in my presence; for He is at my right hand, so that I will not be shaken.”

So how do you practice the truth? You practice the truth by first deciding to implant the Word of God into your brain. See older women as mothers and younger women as sisters, in all purity (1 Timothy 5:2). You decide to take the time to see, say, and then feel the Word of God. Allow yourself, right now, to let the Spirit of God show you what it means to walk by His Spirit in the area of purity toward women. Think through the mind of Christ; take the time to see what Jesus sees, hear what Jesus would say about women. He died for them! If you have any interference, it is your brain; you say no to any unwanted thoughts. Be ferociously determined!
Today decide to open your spiritual eyes and allow Jesus to walk with you.

Training Your Brain Exercise – Meditate

Today take a different Scripture verse and meditate upon it.

Galatians 5:16 NASB – “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.”

Allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you through your meditation. Allow the Holy Spirit to enlighten you as to what it means for YOU to walk by the Spirit and how this ensures that you will not carry out the desires of the flesh. Journal what the Holy Spirit shows you.
