Eyes to See
Mark 8:18 NASB – “Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember . . .”
Do not be conformed any longer to the pattern of this world. The concept of “world” (aion) that Paul uses in Romans 12:2 does not denote God’s physical creation or even the population of the earth. It rather denotes the present world’s system, a matrix, which is under the power of Satan and is hostile to God. It is an evil system (Galatians 1:4) that has its own wisdom (1 Corinthians 2:6), its own standards (1 Corinthians 3:18), its own earthly and spiritual rulers (1 Corinthians 2:6, 8), and it is ultimately controlled by “the god of this age” (2 Corinthians 4:4; 1 John 5:19).
Romans 12:12 – “Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world!”
The flesh is connected to a matrix, a world’s system described by John Trent and Kenneth Wuest as a “floating mass of thoughts, opinions, maxims, speculations, hopes, impulses, aims, aspirations . . . which constitute a most real and effective power, being the moral or immoral atmosphere, which at every moment of our lives we inhale.”
The matrix of the world is a structure of presuppositions, values, and beliefs that work at cross-purposes with the plans and values of the all-good Creator.
This worldly matrix becomes installed in our internal matrix, the brain of the flesh. The brain of the flesh has an antenna to the stuff that is under the god of this world’s domain.
The architect and lord of this world’s system is Satan. This is the one Paul refers to as “the god of this age,” (2 Corinthians 4:4) and as “the ruler of the kingdom of the air.” John teaches that “the whole world’s system is under the control of the evil one” (1 John 5:19).
Whereas, the Creator’s goal is to give abundant life to all who will receive it, the goal of the god of this world’s matrix is to rob, kill, and destroy life wherever and whenever possible (John 10:10).
Be mindful, objective, really look and listen, watch the ads, listen to the language, and notice what the values and beliefs are of the world’s matrix.

Jesus was not talking about external ears or eyes. Jesus was asking if you have spiritual eyes and ears to see and hear His message and the lies of the external matrix!
If not, how will you come to doubt this present world’s system?
