Tune up – Day 21

Born Again

Yesterday I asked you to wonder—how does the human spirit grow? The presupposition is that you have a human spirit. So first things first: You must have a spirit, which is connected to God in order for the Holy Spirit to grow it. To grow spiritually, you must be born again! When you are born again spiritually, it becomes possible to feed your spirit so that it will mature.

John 3:3, 6-7 NASB – “Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. . . . That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be amazed that I said to you, “You must be born again.”

1 Peter 1:3-5 NASB – “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”

1 Corinthians 2:11 NASB – “For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God.”

You must be born again. Born again (anagennao is the Greek word from aná = renewal, again + gennáo = beget) means to be given new birth and it describes regeneration, which is the act of the Holy Spirit imparting a new life to us, making us partakers of the divine nature and thus, children of God, a begetting anew.
The new born-again spirit is the “you” that walks by the Spirit, is led by the Spirit, and lives by the Spirit.
Really, are we really born again? Is it just a metaphor or does a miracle of spiritual birth really take place?
So I wonder . . . are you born again? Are you a new creation in Christ?

Training Your Brain Exercise – Speak to Your Soul

Today is about talking to yourself. Yes, make sure it is inside (internally) and not out loud (externally)! Speak the Word to yourself. Tell yourself the truth. David inquired of his soul.

Psalms 42:5 NASB – “Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him for the help of His presence.”

David addressed his soul as he knew he was to be in charge of his thoughts. Tell your soul the truth today.

Philippians 4:13 NASB – “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”

Psalms 139:14 NASB – “I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.”

Don’t simply regurgitate it in your soul but rather, express it with your personality. “Soul, listen to this. Oh my soul, listen very carefully to this; because of the strength God supplies, I can do all things. I can develop whatever skills I need to live life abundantly. Soul, listen to me about this. I am so grateful to God. God is so fantastic; He has made us with such great precision. He thought of everything, and I praise him for making ME!” Ponder this throughout the day. Be blessed!
