Tune up – Day 27

Power

YOU have the power to overcome the present world’s matrix and the flesh that feeds on it.

Ephesians 6:10 NKJV – “Finally, my brethren, be strong (endunamao) in the Lord and in the power (kratos) of His might (ischuos).”

Finally my brethren, YOU are to “be strong.” This could encourage one to use self-effort to be strong; however, the Greek translation of endunamao means “be strengthened.” The believer is to depend on the Lord for the supply of that strength when it is needed.

The Greek word for “of His might” is ischuos. Ischuos is the force, the might that works and supplies the kratos power, which dwells in us, endunamao!

For example, ischuos is the muscle that generates a weightlifter’s power. The might, the size of the muscle—ischuos, of the weightlifter is evidenced by the amount of weight he is able to lift, which is the measure of the power kratos.

The reason the kratos power available to us is so enormous is because it comes from the muscle that God the Creator possesses. The ischuos of God was demonstrated through the Word of His mouth and evidenced by the creation of the concrete universe we live in.

Again in Ephesians 1:19-20 NASB – “. . . and what is the surpassing greatness of His power (dunamis) toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength (kratos) of His might (ischuos) . . .”

So, there are three kinds of power in the verses above:

  • Dunamis means explosive strength, ability, and power.
  • Kratos is the demonstration of what is seen, heard, and or felt of the dunamis, the measure of the power.
  • Ischuos is the power source of the dunamis that demonstrates the kratos.

Just think about it! God made us out of nothing, a manifestation, a measure of His power! He made YOU in His image, a creation designed to be a vessel, a container to be filled with God’s power in order to live life to the fullest.
WOW!

Training Your Brain Exercise – Where do you go for power?

Where do you go when times are tough? What are you depending on to strengthen you?

2 Corinthians 1:8 NASB – “For we do not want you to be unaware, brethren, of our affliction which came to us in Asia, that we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of life.”

Study, investigate, and be a detective. The answers to the above questions are found in 2 Corinthians 1:9 and the above MindArmor Tune-Up, which explains the source of our strength found in Ephesians.
